| MAME, Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator and the pursuit of classic video game conquest! | |||

This section of my site is dedicated to the timeless joy of coin operated video games and the madness they inspire. Like many others I grew up bathed in the multi colored light of the local arcade. Pumping a seemingly endless supply of quarters into the hungry beasts was a passion, or maybe an addiction. I can remember gearing up with friends for an epic journey on our bikes, we pedaled for miles to reach our favorite arcade mecca. If this sounds vaguely familiar, you too may be a 30 something male yearning for those days long gone. If so, you are in luck. If you haven't heard of MAME, my friend, you are about to embark on a quest fueled by coin op nostalgia! MAME, or Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator is an open source software that replicates thousands of classic (and fairly new) coin operated video games. For more information on MAME and to download a copy please follow this link. With MAME comes a sickness, a burning desire to further replicate that arcade experience. While playing all those classic games is pure bliss, there is something missing, something that doesn't feel right, smacking a computer keyboard, or frantically moving your mouse to fight evil and save the world is somehow dissatisfying. Again, you are in luck. When enough people catch the disease, a cure is created, that's right, there is a huge community of people who have actually built standup arcade machines to house their MAME running PC's, and I am here to tell you it is well worth it! Below are some images of the machines I have built including a sit down arcade cabinet, or cockpit racer, I have also included some links that infinitely helped me along my quest.
